Feb. 26 – The Civilian Production Administration announced Wednesday approval of construction of the Ernest F. Ladd Memorial Football Stadium at Mobile, Ala., at an estimated cost of $600,000.

The approval specified the use of concrete and steel only, and was granted on the basis of “using materials which have no impact on the veterans’ housing program.”

Plans for the Ladd Stadium call for 30,000 seats.
